Habitat for Humanity's Women Build Week is an annual event the week before Mother's Day. Local women devote at least one day during the week to help build a decent and affordable house here in Lorain County. More than 17,000 women, including Lowe’s Heroes volunteers from across the country, are expected to volunteer at construction sites as part of National Women Build Week.
The Women Build program enables women to help eliminate poverty housing by building homes and communities and is a great opportunity for women of all skill levels to come together to help a family have a place to call home. Through Women Build event, thousands of women volunteers and homeowners gain the confidence and skills to lay bricks, pound nails, raise walls – and create hope.
Volunteers gain the confidence and the skills needed to effectively contribute to Habitat’s mission. Additionally, these women will be better equipped to maintain their homes for themselves and their children.
Lowe's Home Improvement store is a dedicated supporter of National Women Build Week and offers how-to clinics to prepare volunteers for the event. Clinic Topics include how to safely use hand and power tools, how to frame walls and roofs, and how to install exterior siding.

If you would like to support Women Build but are unable to help at the worksite, another way to help is to sponsor another woman who would like to volunteer. Habitat for Humanity estimates that each volunteer hour is valued at about $20. Will you consider sponsoring a woman volunteer for half a day at $80 or a full day at $150?
